It's gross to think about, but there's a lot of dirt, grime, and skin oils that can build up on your laptop over time. If you're tired of dealing with a cursor that won't work properly, here are a few solutions that may help. After all, it's your main point of interaction with the computer, so if your cursor is slow, imprecise, or jumping all over the place, you're going to have a bad time. It's straining my eyes in dark environment. It doesn't matter how powerful your laptop is: the touchpad can make or break your experience. I have never seen this kind of thing before. I expected to get a high quality display. I have tried to change settings in System Preferences > Appearance, but it doesn't have any effect. This flashing is not happening on my external display. If you are in dark room you can't miss it, the aluminium surface in front of the display is flashing in light. You can reproduce the flickering by opening TextEdit on full screen, writing text so that scrolling is enabled and scrolling it up and down. This problem is not only limited to web browsers. So I deduce that this is not caused by graphics card, but by the display itself. See:Įven the basic MacBook had a little flickering, but not so noticable or disturbing.Īt home I plugged my HP LP2475w display in to my MacBook Pro and there's no flickering on that even with slow smooth scrolling.

There was no screen tearing, but I noticed later that it was because of Firefox 4. I noticed flickering with all MacBook Pros (13",15" and 17"). I went to a market and tested other MacBooks with glossy screens. Theres some dashed lines and white table borders that also suffer this flickering. If you have the problem, you can see it when scrolling up and down the page slowly. I used Firefox 4 and this issue clearly popped out on this site: I noticed the same on my new 15 inch anti-glare MacBook Pro. Please, note there is another thread on the same topic. I will be contacting Apple Care tomorrow for the second time since my Macline shop is reluctant to exchange the machine. This is my first Mac, I have an iPad which doesn't show the problem when scrolling and I never experienced such a thing with a PC laptop for the past 15 years. I can't imagine that I and my eyes are too sensitive with regards to this issue. The flickering is so annoying that I would like to give my brand new MBA back to the shop and get my money back, although I find this machine fantastic on all other aspects.īut how can I convince the seller that my machine does behave quiet strange if 3 other MBA in the showroom are showing the same display weakness. It affects also the color of some colored fonts: during the scroll, I can observe for example a deep blue color changing into a light blue one!

What I see is a flickering phenomena, only during vertical scrolling, which affects really the quality of the display.
